Iron Chromium Cobalt (FeCrCo) Magnets have similar properties to cast Alnico 5 but, compared to cast Alnico, FeCrCo magnets are easier to machine. With a maximum operating temperature of 400°C (752°F) these are excellent magnets for higher temperature applications such as gas turbines. FeCrCo is machinable and malleable and originally designed as a replacement for CuNiFe (Copper, Nickel, Iron). FeCrCo is available in Isotropic and Anisotropic grades and normally exists in bar, rod, wire and thin rolled strip. Common applications for FeCrCo include compass needles and hysteresis couplers.
